Apricot kernel oil – also known as apricot oil or by its latin name Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil - has a multitude of benefits when it comes to skincare.
Apricot oil is made by pressing the seeds, or kernels, of an apricot to extract the oil. The oil has no scent and is usually a pale gold colour. In texture, it’s similar to the sebum that our skin produces which makes it a great ingredient for skincare as it’s lightweight and fast absorbing.

Apricot kernel oil moisturises the skin
Apricot oil is highly moisturising. The oil is light, and readily absorbed into the skin as it is so similar to the sebum we produce. Apricot oil contains a high level of unsaturated fatty acids. Because of this, it moisturises your skin without leaving any heavy or oily residue behind.
Not only is it moisturising, but it’s also perfect for sensitive skin as it’s non-irritating and soothing when applied topically to the skin.
Apricot oil can help improve fine lines and wrinkles
Apricot oil is extremely nourishing, which makes it ideal for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It contains Oleic acids, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E, all of which help reduce the look of wrinkles and smooth the texture of skin and fine lines.
Apricot kernel oil protects against environmental skin damage
Speaking of nourishing ingredients, apricot oil helps protect against environmental skin damage. Vitamin E is packed full of antioxidants which protect your skin from free radicals.
Free radicals come from air pollutants, chemicals, and cigarette smoke. They can damage your skin by breaking down the collagen, leading to skin sagging and blemishes.
